Artists Statement

My work consists of functional wheel thrown pieces, which are made with the intention for people to enjoy in simple moments of everyday life. When creating I give careful consideration to form and utilize carving and adding clay to my pieces to create depth, enjoying the give and take that the clay allows. Design comes into play through form and altering pieces and is always at the forefront of my mind. Through the process of making ceramics, I often draw relations and parallels of everyday life experiences and growth. As a maker I am continually challenged, humbled and growing.

Biography

I was born, raised, and currently reside in Houston Texas. I discovered my passion in working with clay in 2019 at the University of Houston Clear Lake, and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a Studio concentration in the fall of 2021. I currently serve as a teacher’s assistant at the campus and enjoy the continued learning and working amongst other artists. I teach wheel throwing classes at a local ceramics & pottery studio and love seeing the progression of others in learning pottery. My work is inspired by people and the navigation of everyday life. I enjoy making functional pieces for everyday use.
